Best moment: Oscar's beard
Worst moment: Oscar shaving it off

*btw, for those interested: Boundless, from Mustard Seed is a MASSIVE power-up to his Purple Demon Eye. In fact the author equates its impact to Spirit Avatar, giving TS the confidence to face any Titled Douluo under rank 95 lol 😲. What actually happened there, which was a little unclear, was that his Wisdom Skull Bone shattered from all the accumulated power over the years [in fact, TS had surpassed the limits of the Wisdom Bone, so in effect it was preventing him from advancing lol]. That ordinarily would have injured/killed him, but said power was harnessed by the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, which merged with the Wisdom Bone and reformed it. Thus, leaving TS with not only an upgraded Wisdom skull bone, but one that can tap into all four powers of the Cosmic Shroud LOL. In essence, this sorta lays the groundwork for his future mental abilities, which are MONSTER. hint hint.

Things have been progressing faster compared to early on, it was supposed to be much harder to increase Soul Power, especially at Level 50-60+ and yet Tang San is already at Level 80+ in just a few dozen episodes, when he took about 100+ episodes before reaching the 50th Level😑

douluo • 2 years ago

Yup, that's one of the reasons I always preferred the pre-SG material--leveling up was executed more through story than for the sake of itself. On paper their increased rate of advance does make sense, but even fleshed out in the novel it was sometimes hard to suspend disbelief. Fortunately, I find myself enjoying the adapted SG Trials much more than I anticipated. The novel was long winded and really dry at times.

Mr.Gold • 2 years ago

Yeah, it'd get boring if these trials, which are highly straightforward, cover a large amount of Chapters. But to be honest, though I think it's progressing rather fast now, I think it'd be safer to say that the progress before was just too long-winded hence the comparison😐

Slaughter City is still one of my fav arcs. Damn, if they could expand on that and maybe bring Tang Chen earlier into the picture instead of that “one” reunion. What’s more, TS’s Deathgod Domain is freaking powerful. Instead of spending 40% of the book on SeaGod island alone, Slaughter City deserves an additional 5%.

I know most female fans aka XW’s fans are happy that the author did not go down the harem route, but he could still spice it up a little by giving TS and Hu Liena a bit more interaction. At least Hu Liena’s crazy longing and unrequited love (despite knowing TS already has a lover) would seem more believable.

Oh, and the Angel chick as well, maybe their “acquaintanceship” should have started at the Moon Pavilion instead of in her mind! Her obsession with TS literally came out of nowhere imo. She’s one of the most poorly written female characters, even more infuriating than XW.

Well, well we can only rant it about it now.

douluo • 2 years ago

SC was dope asf, definitely one of my favorite arcs.

Crap I just saw that Fanren started. I may have to put it on hold until I can get up to speed again because my memory for this stuff is for shyte lol.

Youtube Addict • 2 years ago

Damn, I went to Bilibili and they gave ep22 for free. Now I'm totally hooked! Han Li's new image is so fxxking dope! The fight scenes are out of this world. By the way, Izfanmade has changed their domain name. It's now called myanime. They already subbed ep23. Waiting for ep24.

As much as I love TS, I have to admit DD can't hold a candle to Fanren.

douluo • 2 years ago

Yeah I just saw the first ep and as expected it's on another level lol.

ThingGoesSkrra • 2 years ago

joke's on you fatso, beard makes it smexier

Robert • 2 years ago

So XW passed because of reasons?

Youtube Addict • 2 years ago

She’s just a freeloader or a vase as the Chinese fans called her — there for decoration.

douluo • 2 years ago

😂😂😂

douluo • 2 years ago

I LOL at her "rewards superimposed"...spirit power "unknown"🤦‍♂️😂 i.e. the author behind the green curtain can't logically explain this but she's sure to be more powerful than all the others! It was especially comical in the novel because of the repetition--began to feel like I was reading the phone book after anything that might affect their spirit power lol.

Anime God • 2 years ago

Yea she moves with Plot

Territory • 2 years ago

her test is to accompany TS, if he pass, she passed as well

Yes.

torao • 2 years ago

i wonder if tang san will have to make an impromptu visit to tang sect now because of this news. or maybe he will just send away the agile sect girl (im blanking on here name rn) to convey his msg/ or use a bird and just speed up the god of the sea training. how many yrs has it been now? 2?

Youtube Addict • 2 years ago

Remember they have a restriction on leaving the island? And that girl Bai Chenxiang would not have the power and stamina to fly that far. But things are picking up now!

So far each trial took 1 full year. They are in the 4th year.

Ani-man • 1 year ago

Maybe 3

black.kitty_97 • 2 years ago

dont know. maybe they will just continue their training until completion then, return back at the final battle like a boss and show off some cool shit moves xD

FBI_Sensei_Damon • 2 years ago

thats what gonna happen.. this season will be training arc for sure and then next season will be action arc...but they making hell progress tho it was cool

Nobody • 2 years ago

he needs to complete alll his soul rings including the hammer side and to revive XW on mainland. To complete his trial after he comes back to the sea for inheritance.
The reviving part will be damn touiching.

I forgot that oscar had a beard during his debut🤣

oh boy one of my favorite parts, VS DEMON WHALE AGAIN

Youtube Addict • 2 years ago

Caution, this is not the same 🐳. Think of it as an orca and the other one is the legendary blue whale. Together with Xiao Bai they make up the three overlords of the sea. Of course the first demon whale guy tops the list. This fella is ranked second and XB third.

Idk wtf they were talking about Oscar was fine af with the beard. Some can't pull it off but he totally does. Gave off sexy pirate energy

Dee Goodman • 2 years ago

hmm, I get that each test is hard, but at the rate they're going the entire continent will be conquered by the time they finish. Tbh, its a pretty bad ''screwed if you do, screwed if you dont'' situation; if they take a year for each trail they're screw and if they get through each trail too quickly, then the progression feels too screwy and 2D (especially since their progression is already skirting the line of feeling too quick relative to how slow the pre-50 lvl ups went).

imo it would've been better if they had higher levels to begin with, blew through the beginning trails and then slowed down towards the middle/end, which would halve the time their current rate is going to take them

Anime God • 2 years ago

They are risking growth and it makes more sense to me that way. You ever level up fast on RPGs especially J rpgs the progression gets harder as you get strong. Its also like going to the gym losing weight and gaining muscle it slows down as you get strong and lose the heavy fats.

They are struggling to fill up the XP bars now without damn near killing themselves and yes its a hard decision but Bibi Dong has monsters and they realized that after their one fight. Its bad to go in weak period they have to completely own the backup to then deal with the monster bibi dong.

Dee Goodman • 2 years ago

I don't think you understand what I was trying to get at. I was stating that the base setting is flawed. The trails are hard, it's a necessary risk, but they take time to complete, I get that. But they don't have the luxury of time, especially not 5+ years (they've already taken 3.25 years as of this episode), at least not with the rate of progression the Temple is going at. As a result, I don't see them completing the trails in a realistic time relative to the time it takes for the Temple to strike and cause irrevocable damage. Maybe I'm overestimating the Temple's abilities, but unless some outside force that can rival the Temple appears (which we have yet to see any hint to), then by the time they finish the trails, the continent should be mostly conquered (I believe the Temple has already taken over half of the continent as of this episode, ie the territories concede, which caused the emperor to die from a fit of rage in this episode). That's why I explained what setting would've made their progression seem more realistic and have better timing.

douluo • 2 years ago

You're not wrong in your predictions/concerns. Spirit Hall --> Spirit Empire = SHTF in the grand scope. While they return much more powerful, it comes at a great price. The real question is: to what extent could the Seven have prevented it. That's hard to say, but I would have loved a politically-driven nation building arc, especially if integrated with their training somehow, rather than ditching Tang Sect for SG Island. Many of my favorite moments in DD are based not on TS's spirit abilities or tactical genius, but his most frightening asset of all imo: his ability to make allies. I'd suggest another alternative but it would reveal a huge spoiler. At any rate, I think you're touching on this author's achilles heel and DD1 in general: balance.

Youtube Addict • 2 years ago

You took the words right out of my mouth! I still find it hard to forgive the author for making TS ditch his Tang Sect. Like he barely established it, and the next moment he's gone.

I thought it has always been TS's only life goal to set up Tang Sect in DD. But the most exasperating part is when he returned to the continent and found out about the mega domination by Spirit Hall, he actually showed apathy for his very own Tang Sect in exchange against resurrecting his bunny. He even had the audacity to say, he doesn't care about any position or anyone in the empire, all he wanted was to cloister himself away from the world and be with his bunny. Like how selfish can he be? What about the promises he gave his dad and the elders of Tang Sect & Haotian Clan?

But I guess, the author is running out of idea on how to give TS the two red rings of Daming and Erming. He can only drag TS to the forest and use XW as his justification. From here onwards, everything feels super rushed and "unbalanced". 😉

Seriously, if there's one female character that weakens and cheapens the MC, it would be Xiao Wu. Then again, it may be hard for a narcissist to give credits to his wife. He shared his sad story about his wife's struggles with cancer in the afterword of DD3. I was really touched by his unwavering effort to find cure for his wife but somehow I can't shake off the feeling that he's really dominant in the relationship (from the way he described things).

I'm convinced the author is a borderline narcissist, otherwise I can't explain why would he use his very pen name as the main character of a novel and use "Tangmen" as his signature fandom and company.

douluo • 2 years ago

So true...that spoilered part you speak of was a WTF moment for me during the novel. Completely out of character for TS considering all the sacrifices he made for his teammates, etc.

killua 15 • 2 years ago

hope that the Anime will not repeat the same mistake :p

so far i'm contented with them showing the progress of both training and nation building
